Along the many Akebono there was one Somei-Yoshino (recognizable by the beautiful trunk, which is not grafted) is the flowering cherry made famous in Japan for cherry blossom vewing (Hanami) festivals, as stated in  Ornamental Cherries in Vancouver, Douglas Justice.

Come visit the cherry trees at Queen Elizabeth Park as soon as possible. The petals are already falling!
